I’d like to add my thanks for the new text scaling feature. It makes a lot of difference when I’m trying to regularise ; : “ ‘ , . especially in titles. The characters are so much easier to see. One query though: Action (quick) frequently forgets last use since this upgrade. I regularly use Replace but find it has often reverted to Adjust Cover which I never use. I can make a bug report if you prefer. It’s not a big deal.
I've moved this to a dedicated topic under Bug Reports .
Can you explain when the action forgets the last use?
The problem seems to be inconsistent. For example, right now, I started Mp3tag and selected all 168 current tracks; Action (quick) correctly remembered ‘Replace’. Yesterday, when I was correcting lots of problems, sometimes it would remember ‘Replace’, sometimes not.
I will try to collect some usage data over the next few days.
I also noticed this phenomenon today when I repeatedly used the "Import Textfile" action in Action Quick. The trigger for me was that a few of the text files I was trying to import had trailing whitespace, which led to error messages. I removed the whitespace using the Tag-to-Tag converter with $trim(%_filename%) and then ran the Quick action again without checking the displayed content. This proved fatal, as the last action had changed to a format-value action for the filename.
I haven't tested for other triggers, but the error occurs reproducibly with the procedure I described.
I am now using a different set of 61 tracks. I edited some track data, and used AQ (Button), Replace and Menu convert tag-tag, and all was well. AQ remembered ‘Replace’
I then used Menu Convert Tag-filename and after that, AQ changed to ‘Format Value’ . I doubt it’s important, but the convert string was $num(%track%,3) - %composer%; %title%
I repeated AQ Replace and Convert Tag-filename (changing “ to ‘ in the title) . This time, AQ remembered ‘Replace’.
Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce.
Are you maybe running a Quick Action that you configured as a custom toolbar button to notice this effect? I'm asking, because those are currently remembered as last run quick action.
No. I have not configured any custom tool button.
I just tested it again with the same result.
Mp3tag remembers the last quick action even after closing and restarting the program. But as soon as I use the converter "Tag->Tag", the last quick-action is forgotten. That is not restricted to "Import text file" as quick action. I tested it also now with some other quick-actions.
But:
It always changes back to the last "format-value-quick-action".
If I use the format-value-action- type, the use of the converter tag->tag does not trigger the forgetting.
I understand and can reproduce this behavior now. Thank you!
It looks like this is not something specific to v3.34, though, but an issue that's already present with previous versions.
Follow up
I agree about tag-tag. Over the last week, I've monitored quick-action status, while using various options on the convert drop-down. I believe tag-tag is the only converter where this forgetfulness occurs.
I've fixed this with Mp3tag v3.34.1. Thanks for reporting!
