# APE tags in WAV files

Hi.
Some software I use writes APEv2 tags to all audio files it supports playing including WAV files. I want to encode thousands of WAV files to FLAC but retain the file tags. I was going to use MP3Tag to export the APE tag data to a file, encode the files, modify the file extension in the export file, and import the tags into the FLAC files.
But MP3Tag doesn't appear to support reading/writing tags from/to WAV files.
Can anyone recommend another way to do this, or ideally, could MP3Tag be modified to allow APE tags to be written and read from WAV files. That shouldn't be difficult to do.

You can try to change the file extension to a format on which Mp3tag only uses APE tags like aac or mpc
I.e. change file.wav to file.aac
