# Asciification in Export

Can anyone suggest a way of reducing various tags' international characters to their Extended ASCII equivalents in an Export config?
The only way I've found is with a horrendous stack of nested $replace()'s. A workaround is to do it beforehand in an Action Group using one Replace action per character, but this incurs the big cost of writing tags to thousands of files.
Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.
