# Batch rename file extensions

My MP3 player went haywire and changed all my MP3 files to DAT.  
Is there a way to batch rename the extensions before going through and extracting the tag info, or am I going to have to rename all 3000 files one by one?

It's not possible with Mp3tag but you can use one of the many file rename tools out there.

I'm using [Total Commander](http://www.ghisler.com)'s multi rename tool for general purpose file renaming (TC is Shareware).
