# Can I split a filename containing Track & Artist?

Hi

I have some mp3s that all have titles in this format:

"Purple Rain - Prince"

The track is first, then a space, hyphen, space, then the artist. The Artist field is "Various Artists" because the CD is a compilation.

I would like the Title to say "Purple Rain" and the Artist to say "Prince". Can mp3tag do this?

Yes, this is possible using an ![:mt_act:](https://community.mp3tag.de/uploads/default/original/1X/318aa654f7a0c7c178d869991f6e8680b214cfc0.png ":mt\_act:") action **Guess values** with

_Source format:_ **%title%**  
_Guessing pattern:_ **%title% - %artist%**

Excellent! It worked, and I was also able to change the filename so that the Artist was before the Title.
