Hello Mp3tag Community,

I have been a frequent user of the 'rename based on tags' function to organize my music folder according to the following criteria: %PUBLISHER%/%YEAR% - %album%/%ARTIST% - %title% (%YEAR%).

Previously, if the folder existed, the function would simply move the file to the existing folder structure. If not, mp3tag would create the necessary folder and sub-folders on the fly.

However, since updating to OSX Ventura 13.1 from OSX Mojave, I've been encountering an issue. I now receive an error message stating that I don't have the necessary rights to the folder, etc. (please see the attached screenshots for reference).

I attempted to resolve this by adding mp3tag to the 'Full Disk Access' enabled apps in the OSX preferences panel, but this didn't seem to make a difference.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or solutions from the community. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

OSX Ventura 13.4.1
mp3tag : 1.8.1

\*Edit post #1 : External drive is ExFAT (and already was under Mojave), i'm looking in the direction of limit implemented since Ventura regarding file systeme, rights & security management.

Have a look at this thread and see whether it helps:

> Hi Florian, Thanks for the greatly useful app. It's a perfect app to organize tag for my music library. I have an issue with the app when using it on my second Macbook, though. When trying to edit any metadata, it's said that I can't access the file on my external hard drive. I already gave Mp3Tag full disk access on Security & Privacy. When searching here, I found someone had the same issue and solved with "defaults delete app.mp3tag.Mp3tag SecurityScopedBookmarks" in Terminal app. I tried…

Hello @ohrenkino, thank you for your suggestion.

I attempted to implement the method outlined in the recommended post, but unfortunately, it did not work.

Here are the steps I followed:

1/ I closed all instances of the mp3tag application.
2/ I executed the terminal command: `defaults delete app.mp3tag.Mp3tag SecurityScopedBookmarks`
3/ I relaunched the app and tried to open files using ⌘O.

Unfortunately, I encountered the same permissions rights error.

I have attached the log for your reference, if needed. However, I suspect this issue might be related to the limitations of the exFAT file system. Later today, I plan to try using an external drive formatted in APFS to see if the problem persists.

Here are some logs from console - filtered on "mp3tag"

AFAI understand it, you have to open the whole folder to get the permission.
The best way would be to open the top folder for all music files as MP3tag would then get permission to modify all subordinate folders - and the files inside these folders.

@ohrenkino , In my first try i add the volumes using ⌘O and it failed
After your comment, i add only the root folder (1st folder in the volume)...and it worked 🙂

Thanks for your help 👍
