# convert all ID3V1 tags to ID3V2 tags?

Hi, I have all my music tagged using ID3V1, is there a quick way to convert all files to have ID3V2 so I can add cover art? Thanks

**Tools / Options... / Tags / Mpeg** --\>

**Read**

[] APE  
[x] ID3v1  
[x] ID3v2

**Write**

[] APE  
[] ID3v1  
[x] ID3v2

- Select all files having ID3v1
- Ctrl + X to cut the tag to the clipboard OR Right click to see the local menu - Tag Cut
- Ctrl + V to paste the tag from the clipboard OR Right click to see the local menu again - Tag Paste

**Suggestion:** always test your actions on a small amount of files (file copies) to see the result if you are not sure what to do.
