Converting Tags, ID3v2.4 to 2.3

I'm a new user, so please be gentle. :slight_smile:

I have some MP3 files with ID3v2.4 tags, and want to convert them all to ID3v2.3. This seems like it would be the kind of thing an Action would be for, but I can't quite see how. Could somebody point me in the right direction?

Hi Rich, you don't even need an action in MP3Tag. Make sure the options are set to save as ID3v2.3 [Menu: Options / Tags / Mpeg / write] and do a save on all the files [Ctrl-A (to select all) Ctrl-S (to save)] and you should be all set. Hope this helps, D.

I have been sitting for an hour with a similar problem of changing APE-tags to ID3v2-tags. The solution above only saves a new ID3v2-tag and doesn't remove the APE tag.

In order to change tag you have to CTRL-X the tag and CTRL-V it back again. This works if you have your options set to read all tags and write the tag you want.

Of course you can also only activate the removal of APE tags only and then click on :mt_delete:. This topic is also covered in the FAQs.
