Cover Art not downloading

Hello I have a recent development that is quite annoying. Whenever I try to use Amazon.com to load the cover art it comes up blank.

I was previously using I believe 2.49 and then upgraded to 2.54. I have had the problem with both versions. I have tried this on multiple computers using the same internet connection so I'm unsure if it's just my internet but I haven't had any other problems.

Some help with this would be appreciated. Just tell me what kind of information you need from me and I will do my best to supply it.

Try this to download cover art, maybe it helps !

Mp3Tag & Album Art Downloader Tut

I thank you very much for your response and if I am unable to fix the mp3tag built in cover art downloader I will definitely give that a try.

Things you can try:

1- Try to download an older version of Mp3tag and see if (when you check for updates) if Mp3tag alerts you.

2- Check File - Options, Networking what the time out is (mine 20) and what the Proxy is set to (Use Proxy is unchecked for me)

Ok I installed v2.49 and attempted to check for a newer version which did nothing. I turned off the windows firewall and still nothing. I'm running Win 7 SP1 on both 32 and 64 bit. I changed the time out to 30 which did not help and I am not using a proxy. Unless anyone has any better ideas I'm going to have to guess that it is either my router or my internet connection. I can't imagine my internet blocking this as they haven't blocked anything else so I'm trying to see how it could be my router.

I don't have the ability right now to use a different internet though I might run down the street to try it out and see if that works or not.

Strange,

how did you turn off your firewall ?? Disabled the service ?
Check your Eventviewer - Security log and see if you see any events like this

Also, can you try this for me

Click Start - Run, type CMD (Press Enter)

type in the black window what comes there

ping www.mp3tag.de you should see something like this

C:\Users\???>>ping www.mp3tag.de

After this finishes you can type EXIT to close to Dos Box

Sorry didn't feel like including the quoting.

Ok. I turned the windows firewall off simply by disabling, I went ahead and turned the service off this time and still nothing came of it.

I did a ping of the address you requested and had 0% packet loss so that's fine. My ping times were normal.

I'm still looking for a logging option in my router. I am using an Overdrive Pro through virgin mobile 4g hotspot.

My last question (for now) goto CMD and do a tracert www.mp3tag.de and post the details.

Mine.

I'm guessing it never finishes as the amazon servers deny ping requests.

There is a thread on a similar sounding problem:

Problems with getting albumcovers from Amazon

Thank you for pointing me to that as I didn't find it in my search but this does not appear to be the problem I am having. I can reach the server just fine. I get that error when my internet is disconnected so I can reproduce it then but otherwise it pulls up the page where the art should be, but it just isn't. I get no errors. Unless there is an error log for the program I am missing.

Ok. I downgraded even further to v2.39 and it is able to check for updates. When trying to connect to Amazon it does give me the error "Error connecting to server: http://webservices.amazon.com" which I was not receiving in either v2.49 or v2.54. I am able to connect to freedb and discogs which are the only other options in this version.

I went ahead and moved back to v2.54 to check the original issue more and it connect to http://webservices.amazon.com just fine but will not pull the album art at all. It will allow me to click the link that takes me to the page for the album.

Discogs and MusicBrainz also do not produce album artwork.

There was a post which I cannot find right now that reported that a certain cellular network supplier blocked the download of cover art ... So perhaps you can really check if you get the data if you connect via the wire network.

Hm, don't know for sure, there might be a security setting in your system's internet explorer settings, which can block the download of images.

DD.20130207.0841.CET

So one thing to check is, pgoof do you see the all the pictures here on the Mp3tag forum (smileys  etc etc )

Pgoof, could you please download Album Art Downloader
http://sourceforge.net/projects/album-art/ and see what happens when you search for Album Art

I was able to find like some 40+ pictures for what I searched for but nothing from Amazon it says. 7Digital, Archambault, Buy.com, Coveralia, Cover-Paradies, Discogs, DJshop, eMusic, GoogleImage, iTunes, LastFM Cover, maniadb, medianet, Qobuz, SFR Music. Those are the ones that it was able to pull album art from.

I did a couple of searches and all came up about the same. It's almost like there is no art to load from Amazon.

What is the artist and album and title ? I will do a search for you and see what comes up.

edit: */ Could you check your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\Hosts file and see what entries are in there ?

Ok checked the hosts file and there are no entries in there which is good because I haven't edited it and I'd have been a lil mad if something else had.

I did a search's for:
Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
Metallica - Black

That's good about your hosts file (I only have 33k entries in it

Only searched on all amazon servers

Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill <--- 2 Covers
Metallica - Black <--- 0 (Zero) Covers

I wonder if as someone pointed out earlier my carrier is blocking the downloading of album art from Amazon or something. That seems rather pointless and silly but.. what else? I know everything was working previously on other internet connections. This is the first time trying it on this carrier.
