# Cutting and pasting from the title into the artist

How do you take a few characters (Up until a '-') from the title and put them into the artist, as well as removing the extra spacing in front of the title?

Use Action "Guess values" by the button Actions (Quick) in the toolbar (select the files first).
_Action type:_ **Guess values**
_Source format:_ **%title%**
_Guessing pattern:_ **%dummy% - %artist% - %title%**
**%dummy%** ignores the numbers in the beginning of the field title. If you liked to put the track number into the field track, use the pattern **%track% - %artist% - %title%** instead.
