Been using MP3Tag forever on my Windows desktop PC (most recently Windows 11) - all of a sudden it's gone from my Windows Explorer context menu (I have the classic context menu enabled by default; I suspect a recent Windows update is to blame). I had a slightly older version of MP3Tag, which I thought was the culprit, so I uninstalled it and installed ver. 3.36.1, but still have the same problem (I have of course rebooted the PC). What's next to try?

> Right-click context menu is missing on Windows 11 Assuming you've already restarted explorer.exe via the right-click context menu in Task Manager (or have rebooted Windows), this is happening sometimes on Windows 11 for reasons which I still trying to find out. What might help in those cases and when the classic context menu is preferred, is to manually register the shell extension from a command prompt with admin rights: cd \<path to Mp3tag installation\> regsvr32 Mp3tagShell.dll

Thanks, and my apologies for missing an FAQ item. I did see this thread, and tried implementing it, but was struggling with permissions issues (even though I was running PowerShell as an admin). This time I used a regular Command Prompt (invoked as admin) instead, and it ran smoothly - and fixed the issue! Glad to have MP3Tag back on the context menu, and I just donated to the creator 🙂
