Disc are not showing at musicbrainz

I can confirm this is happening since 14-10-2019 and started somewhere in the evening.
When try to find an album in MusicBrainz you can select the correct album but then in the tagpanel it shows what "nielsprins1" describes. Using Discogs works normal so it seems that MusicBrainz has a problem or changed their interfacer again....

Maybe this is caused by the MusicBrainz's latest server update?

No i use it for the whole cd

Ok thanks for the confimation. Hope they will be back online soon

Discogs is working fine indeed (missing the amount of tracks for the releases though)

Hallo Niels,
Offtopic:
Discogs works fine but you are right regarding track amounts.
Furthermore I think that if MusicBrainz is working it has the better search engine.
If you are not spot on with your text at Discogs it will show no results.
I tagged more than 75.000 tracks during the last weeks and Musicbrainz has generally better results, however I use Discogs also often when I can't find the stuff on MusicBrainz
Hopefully MusicBrainz have solved their problems soon.

Yes. I have this exact problem. It just started happening yesterday. I am using mp3tag version 2.98. I went back to version 2.97 but the same problem occurs. Did MusicBrainz change their API? When I use the Picard tagger from MusicBrainz, this problem does not occur -- so I know that MusicBrainz is still online.

Hi Geewizz

As im entitled to keep the music collection (on board of a ship) up to date im working since 2010 approx. with MP3tag. over 400gb music has been retagged since.
I do agree on that musicbrainz has a great database and the website is of easy acces. Same for me, i use the rest only when i can find the stuff.

I will try to sent a mail to musicbrainz to see if something changed, and hope it 'll come back online shortly

ufff im a music freak. but no idea about acces tokens or stuff, sorry.
Might be a stupid question do i need to do something or does it has to come from their site or from mp3tag?

@Florian has to adjust the MusicBrainz.src file.

In the meantime you can do it yourself as a workaround:

Open then folder %appdata%\Mp3tag\data\sources. Open the file MusicBrainz.src.
Jump to approx. line 104 (the first empty line in the ALBUM section).
Enter the above line
joinuntil "</metadata>"
save and close the file. Thats all.

I’ll release a fixed version soon. At the moment I’m in the unfortunate situation of having no working computer.

My machine broke last Wednesday and is in repair since then – I can pick it up on Friday and hope that it’s back to normal then.

Until then, it’s me administrating the servers via SSH on my iPhone (Prompt is a good app for that), doing support via this tiny screen and really looking forward to get back being productive soon.

@ LyricsLover; Many thanks for the tip, works like a charm. Tagging is one thing, understanding the programming is "something completely different" :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

One thing I would like to know: how did you know what Musicbrainz had changed.
Is there a way to find that info on their website ?

I was not the one who has found the details about the new XML header in the search result.
That was @ms6676749 in his linked answer.

I'm just one of the many contributors at MusicBrainz. Therefore I knew about this last change but only in general. It's a wild guess, maybe the issue https://tickets.metabrainz.org/browse/MBS-10405 could be the reason.

Little addition for web source developers like @Florian
MusicBrainz also offers his search results as JSON output. Could this be easier to parse then XML?

Thanks for the info.
This is the way of learning I like  even though I am not a programmer.

Thanks, worked for me, too.

But what do I have to change in the .src-file, if I only want to add the Cover Art?
Because this is still not working with the above mentioned changes.

Added the line to MusicBrainz.src but still not working. What did I do wrong?

# ###################################################################
# A L B U M
# ###################################################################
joinuntil "</metadata>"
# MusicBrainz Album ID
outputto "MUSICBRAINZ_ALBUMID"
sayregexp "(?<= id=\")[-0-9a-y]{34,40}(?=\")" ", " "<title>"

I've just released Mp3tag v2.99 which fixes the MusicBrainz issue.
