What's going on here, then?

$regexp('$',(.\*),$0) returns $$ rather than $ as I'd expect.

**$regexp('^$',(.\*),$0)** gives **^$$**

**$regexp('^$',(.\*),$1)** gives **^$$**

**$regexp('^$',(.)(.),$1)** gives **^$**  
**$regexp('^$',(.)(.),$2)** gives **$$**  
**$regexp('^$',(.)(.),$1$2)** gives **^$$**  
**$regexp('^$',(.)(.),$1-$2)** gives **^-$$**

**$regexp('^$',(.\*),$-1)** gives **$-1$-1**
