Hi Florian once again 🙂 ,

I had an thought that it would be nice to have a feature where the user could Hide/Show columns on the fly once they have selected which columns they would want to hide/show.

In Thought, you would have a clickable (Hide/Show) button near top where the column titles reside. When the user click on it, the selected columns would hide to give more screen view to the columns the user want to focus on.
This thought came to me when I have to scroll many times to get to viewable columns I want to edit that are off screen due to the many columns available.

As an example, when I want to edit bitrate, frequency, lengths and so on, I can quickly click the show/hide and these columns will be instantly there for editing without scrolling.

Now, I do understand fields can be checked/unchecked, but this is the idea of being able to have the option to edit most fields without scrolling back and forth.

Although, I have a very wide screen, I still can't get all useful columns I use on the screen without scrolling. And, this would benefit smaller width screens as well as users who use most of the column audio info.

Anyhow, just a thought. I hope I am not being too confusing with all the example talk.. my apologies. Basically, just an Spreadsheet type Hide/Unhide option is what I am trying to explain.

Thanks for considering. Artie (snp)

Sorry, I'm not Florian... 😉

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly.
You can right-click on the column header in the File List to make the columns visible or invisible.

> **[Hiding and Showing Columns - File List – Mp3tag Documentation](https://docs.mp3tag.de/customization/file-list/#hiding-and-showing-columns)**
>
> The File List is the main list that lists the files loaded with Mp3tag. While it already provides a range of different columns to display file information, it can be extended and adapted to your needs via View → Customize columns.... | Customization...

You can also rearrange the visible columns by dragging and dropping the most important ones to the left, so that you don't have to scroll to the right.

What Excel does not offer: a way to save a certain column configuration, yet, this function is available in MP3tag.
This gives you the option to save and recall columns for special sets of files, e.g. music files vs. video files.

HI, my Apologies on the names, I always receive emails from Florian that's why I mention the name.. however, it is meant for any developer or forum user feedback.

Ok, yes.. Totally missing my point.. OK, what i am trying to explain is to have a One-Click action to show right-side columns that may not be showing on the screen. This is useful for users like myself who use many columns when editing and viewing them.

When the user click this function, what ever hidden columns that are not visible that the user has selected to be seen, will show without having to scroll back and forth for those extra columns.

Just a quick way to view or edit those columns when needed, and then a another click to have the default columns back in view. That's what i am trying to say. A quick and efficient way to toggle between columns. Thanks.

A close approximation to this is already available by combining the **Ctrl** key and the left or right arrow keys.

Let's say that you have two "screenfulls" of columns. To shift the column view from the leftmost set to the rightmost set, press and hold the **Ctrl** key. Then press the right arrow key once and the rightmost set will appear. If you have more than two screenfulls, you can press the right arrow key again to display the next group, and so on. Pressing **Ctrl** and the left arrow key once will shift the view back one screenfull at a time.
