Is it possible to mimic Finder (or Windows Explorer) like browsing of music files?

Right now it is a real pain to browse even a relatively small collection of music.

Even if I open a single artists catalog, I may face a huge wall of text and if I add all my music there is no way I can easily navigate through it let alone work with it

So now I have to open one album, work with it, clear the main window, add another album - this is a real pain!

I even tried installing Tag and Rename via crossover - which works but there is no this native mac feel in this setup. But in terms of usability I think they perfectly nailed it! Is it possible to achieve at least something resembling their approach?

as you mention the Windows explorer - there have been a number similar feature requests, see e.g. here

So far, in the Windows world, the suggestion has been to use the Explorer's navigation tree and then drag&drop the files into MP3tag.
I would assume that this would also be the way on a Mac until the feature is implemented.

I thought there would be some kind of configuration of views to at least try and mimic finder like behavior without going full blown `NavigationSplitView` or something similar.

But going through the links in the post you mentioned it looks like this very feature was requested MORE THAN 20 YEARS AGO and is still not implemented so I have zero expectations. Too bad i did not notice that before buying the app.

Welp, I guess this would be a good opportunity to burn some tokens then and maybe learn some swift

You can always ask for a refund if you’re unhappy with the app. No worries.

No, the app is still the best one for macos

Would I have known that before buying then I might have had hesitated, but now that I am using it I would like to keep it ))

Honestly though, is it THAT difficult to implement? I fired up Claude and I am going to use python (that's all I professional use) and PySide6 and from the implementation plan it came up with it did not look too bad in terms of implementation difficulty, at least for a home mvp project.
