as you mention the Windows explorer - there have been a number similar feature requests, see e.g. here

Directory Tree

Will it be better to use a directory tree view instead of adding the dir one by one? I've used other programs and I find it easier to browse from tree view.. Just my suggestion though.. wonder if anyone have considered it before.

So far, in the Windows world, the suggestion has been to use the Explorer's navigation tree and then drag&drop the files into MP3tag.
I would assume that this would also be the way on a Mac until the feature is implemented.
