When I use Freedb and use "determine from selection" it returns @ 20 items, but none of them are close to file I have downloaded over the internet.

What am I doing wrong?

Is there an easier way to get this information and fill in the tags? I'm looking mostly for the original date and original album name for a particular artist/song.

Just use the web search (last option on the dialog).
