# Hidden Uneditable WMA Tags

Hi, I have a situation with a pair of files in wma format. I cannot see or edit their tags with mp3Tag. Here are the full details of this issue. I hope someone can help and figure out what is going on.
In **Mp3Tag 2.39** :
- Tags cannot be applied. An error dialog pops up saying "cannot be opened for writing".
- Tags look empty, even in the extended tags window.
- File properties window:
TAG Version: ()
Mode: 2
In **Windows Media Player 11.0.6000.6344** :
- The file plays correctly
- Properties window:
File: Audio codec: WMA 9.1, 64 kbps, 48 kHz, stereo 1-pass CBR
Content: Just title tag is complete.
- The first time the file is dropped into WMP the status bar cycles once through the otherwise hidden artist and album tags and is fixed showing the title tag.
In **Windows (Vista Ultimate) Explorer**:
- With the file selected, the status bar shows empty tags, which you can click to edit, but when I click Save and error dialog pops up saying: "An unexpected error is preventing the operation [...]: Error 0x8000FFFF: Catastrophic failure"
In **Winamp 5.5** :
- All tags are shown in the File Info window but Winamp does not save changes in the tags. It does not show any write error though, just silently ignores them.

There is probably a problem with the file integrity.
