# How can I export user defined fields?

Hi,
I’m a new user.
I’ve worked out how to get MP3tag to read and extract metadata from my two custom fields added to my recordings’ metadata (Effects & Ref position). I can see this data correctly populated in the relevant columns in MP3tag’s interface.
However, when I export the directory either as csv or txt\_taglist, the user-defined fields are omitted from the output.
How can I correct this?

You can reference them by their name as placeholders and just add them to the export templates, e.g., `%effects%` and `%refposition%` (if you named the fields `EFFECTS` and `REFPOSITION`).
You can edit the templates (or duplicate to an own one) via double click on the export configuration, the **Edit** button, or by pressing F4. Export configurations are text files itself, so editing is possible with any text editor.
