# How can I find out when a Extended Tag

dialog Metadata item name is of an actual tag or an Mp3tag placeholder?

This depends on the tag format. For ID3v2 tags, all field names are Mp3tag's representation (because TPE1 is not easy to understand for most of the users).
Fields of tag formats like APEv2 or Vorbis Comments are displayed with their actual names in Mp3tag.

Sure. It would be nice if the Exteded Tags dialog showed that.
And ideally said whether a tag was Mp3tag or native, and if native, its name.

Excepting TXXX of course.
