# How to lock metadata

Greets from Canada, all. First, what a fabulous ware this MP3tag is! Congrats to all involved - We didn't hesitate to make a modest donation.
Our use is different than most who use it - we use it to credit writers/publishers, master owner, copyright info by virtue of the tag panel.
**Question:** Is there a way to _lock_ metadata once embedded so as no one could change it? Obviously 'read/write' could play a role on _our_ computer - is that applicable to a file sent out with metadata embedded? Or is there another way?
