# How to remove APE tags from mp3 files?

Activate the removal of APE tags in the Options under Tags, Mpeg and then click ![:mt_delete:](https://community.mp3tag.de/uploads/default/original/1X/f8cb09f7d5897904a6009038a284a45dd782a67f.png ":mt\_delete:") after selecting the files you want to edit.

Nt sure if I did it right but my settings in MP3tag to remove APE and ensure that my MP3 are in the right version are as follow:

Your settings are to remove **everything**. If you want to remove APE tags only (and keep ID3v1 and ID3v2), uncheck the ID3v1 and ID3v2 boxes in the Remove category leaving only APE activated.
