[AlbumArtDownloader](https://sourceforge.net/projects/album-art/) is arguably one of the best free album cover art downloaders around. It effortlessly searches a large number of cover art sources with standalone scripts that are constantly updated. And it presents all the found art with previews, sizes, etc.

1. Download and install AlbumArtDownloader from SourceForge: [https://sourceforge.net/projects/album-art/](https://sourceforge.net/projects/album-art/)

2. In MP3TAG, click on Tools and select Options... (Ctrl-O shortcut)

3. In the Mp3tag Options window, select Tools on the left side, and click on the icon on the right with a yellow star to enter a new command:

4. In the Customize Tool window, enter the following values:
Name: Covers - AlbumArt Downloader
Path--the default is shown. If you installed elsewhere, change accordingly: C:\Program Files\AlbumArtDownloader\AlbumArt.exe
Parameter: /ar "%artist%" /al "%album%" /p "%\_folderpath%folder.jpg" /t f /mn 500 /mx 3000 /o a- /ac

Here's what the window looks like fully filled out:

1. Click OK to save and exit the Tools windows.

2. Now to download and automatically save the chosen artwork, simply right-click any track, select Tools, Covers - AlbumArt Downloader

3. In the Album Art Downloader window, simply click on the disc icon to save the selected file as "folder.jpg" to the directory of the track you right-clicked on. The Album Art Downloader window will close automatically.

Thank you very much for your valuable post. It works a charm.

Could you, please, post your settings for the Google Album Art search too?

Am I doing something wrong? Here is what I did I followed your steps and have found (2) cover art so far. And both are being named folder so I have a folder and a folder 2. Now how do I add the images to the mp3tag program. Where are the images at now.

This is what I understand about the program.

1. You open up mp3tag and right click to scan each file for a album art. And then the Album Art Downloader finds and downloads the image for you and names then folder. And then you need to find each of the images and place them on the mp3 files. Is this correct.

Or am I mistaken in how I'm doing this. Is the mp3tag program meant to add the image or am I to add the images to the files. Still new to this please help.

Actually, all you have to do is highlight all the files that will share the same image, then follow the directions to open AlbumArtDownloader, then right click in AAD the image you would like to use, select copy, now close AAD and return to MP3Tag, right click in the image area and select paste. Now hit save to make sure the new cover is saved to all your selected files.

Thanks M3Rocket for your great script! One thing though, all of the files are shown as "\*.jpg" in the results even if the file is actually a ".png". Changing the parameter to the below will show the actual file extension in the results:

`/ar "%artist%" /al "%album%" /p "%_folderpath%folder.%%extension%%" /t f /mn 500 /mx 3000 /o a- /ac`

Also, I normally save the cover first as "\<artist's name\>.\<ext.\>", this variation will do that if desired:

`/ar "%artist%" /al "%album%" /p "%_folderpath%%artist%.%%extension%%" /t f /mn 500 /mx 3000 /o a- /ac`

I downloaded AAC because I read your post--thanks again!

This is what I've been looking for 🙂
I've had Album Art Downloader for a while. Although it finds and downloads album art very quickly and easily, it doesn't then add that file to the album listing.
This should do the trick. What I'd really like to do though, is add AlbumArt Downloader to "TagSources - Cover Art" list.

Probably won't work:
AAD = third party program outside MP3tag,
WSS = code interpreted by MP3tag built-in parser.

Oh Well, never mind, I'll manage. Thanks for answering 🙂

Since asking, I've found that all you have to do is to slide the Cover pic from AAD, into the cover pic slot on MP3tag tagging page for that album. All the track files of that album have to be highlighted for the cover pic to show when any track is played. Now I've added that script to make AAD a right click tool, it's quite simple really, which is lucky for me 😄

You can use also use like this, and save your ARTIST-TITLE.JPG

/ar "%artist%" /al "%album%" /p "%\_folderpath%%artist% - %title%" /t f /mn 500 /mx 3000 /o a- /ac

OR LIKE THIS

/ar "%artist% - %title%" /al "%title%" /p "%\_folderpath%%artist% - %title%.jpg" /t f /mn 500 /mx 3000 /o a- /ac

Thanks for this.

I’m finding all covers that are shown are not saying what size they are, I’m getting ‘unknown’.

It could be the obscure album covers I’m looking for?

If really **all** albums don't show it's size - yes. AAD does not get this information on many sources without downloading them first. But main sources like iTunes, Deezer, Qobuz, [Fanart.tv](http://Fanart.tv) and mostly MusicBrainz show their size and you see them in AAD.
That really covers a lot.
To see the size of the "Unkown" covers you have to download them by clicking with the mouse. You can also tell AAD in the options to download all unknown pictures, but that will create a lot of traffic and also takes a time until all pictures are downloaded.

 ![image](https://community.mp3tag.de/uploads/default/original/3X/f/d/fda68645b583d8ae47bcc2e129ad241c663163be.png)

I group the results also by size, so that high resolution images are shown first. So getting a high resolution image at first glance at least for the front cover ist nearly never a problem. If you also look for other images like back cover, Label, booklet ... you mostly have to download them first to get information of the size.

Sure. You can save as many cover files you want.
