# Mp3tag for Mac v1.9 released

# Mp3tag for Mac v1.9 released
I’ve just released Mp3tag for Mac v1.9 and I want to take the opportunity to outline some of the new features and improvements for you:
### Support for the Matroska File Format
Mp3tag now has support to view and edit metadata of Matroska audio (MKA), Matroska video (MKV), and WebM files, and thereby supporting one of the most complex metadata formats via a common and accessible user interface. Support for chapters in Matroska is on my internal wish list.
### Replace Cover via Tag Panel
If you wanted to replace the existing embedded album cover, it involved a couple of steps (removing old, and selecting new). If the file had multiple covers and you wanted to replace a cover, even more steps were involved: in addition, the existing covers needed to be exported and re-added. This is a thing of the past, and the currently displayed cover can now easily be replaced via **Replace** from the right-click contextual menu on the cover window.
### Improved Keyboard Navigation at Tag Sources
I've reworked the Tag Sources search window to use the _Search_ button as the initial default button. After results have been queried, the _Next_ button acts as default and responds to the Return key press. Tab navigation order has also been improved and it should feel more natural now to use the Tag Sources search via keyboard.
### A few more things
Mp3tag is now localized to Danish — mange tak to @Littelking! I’ve also improved undoing cover operations and changed many of the converters, e.g., Tag - Filename, to take unsaved changes into account. In addition, I've fixed a couple of issues and introduced quality-of-life changes, which are all meticulously listed in the Mp3tag for Mac [changelog](https://mp3tag.app/changelog). I've just released **Mp3tag for Mac v1.9.2** with the following changes:

- Further improved focus and default-button handling in Tag Sources search window.
- Improved performance when selecting many files, which might be especially noticeable on files from network shares.
- Added detection of invalid ID3v2.2 frames in ID3v2.3 and ID3v2.4 tags and translation to target revision if possible.

I've just released **Mp3tag for Mac v1.9.3** with the following changes:
### New
- Added scripting function `sort` to sort parts of a given string delimited by a given delimiter string.
- Added Matroska mappings for `CATALOGNUMBER`, `ENCODERSETTINGS`, `TVEPISODE`, `TVNETWORK`, `TVSEASON`, and `TVSHOW`.
- Added using Discogs Release ID from clipboard when searching via Discogs Release ID Tag Source.
- Added option to stop, skip, and retry with apply to all on errors when deleting files.
### Changed & Improved
- Added deletion of files if trashing is not supported by the underlying file system.
- Changed to use T=50 Album als default target type for MKV Matroska video files.
- Improved calculation of bitrate for CBR MP3 files with a Xing Info header.
- Added removing of trailing empty data that is not part of the RIFF file structure when saving WAV files.
- Updated Danish localization.
### Fixed
- Fixed error when writing WAV files that have trailing garbage data that is not part of the RIFF file structure.

I've just released **Mp3tag for Mac v1.9.5** with the following change:
### Fixed
- Previous inputs for _Original_ and _Replace_ were not stored in dropdown-history menus for action _Replace_.
- Previous inputs for _Regexp_ and _Replace_ were not stored in dropdown-history menus for action _Replace with Regular Expression_.
- Some dropdown-history menus used a font different from the regular system font.
- Using a negative parameter at Tag-Sources function `SayNChars` did not work correctly.
- If the search string used for Tag-Sources function `FindInLine` was not found, the internal index was at the last character of the line instead of past the last character of the line.

I've just released **Mp3tag for Mac v1.9.7** with the following changes:
### New:
- Added Remove Tag toolbar icon (available via Customize Toolbar...). ([#69647](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/69647))
### Changed & Improved
- Use the parent directory in _File → Open..._ if the last opened directory is no longer available.
- Added tag version display to _Extended Tags_ when viewing individual files. ([#69371](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/69371))
- Modified _Extended Tags_ column sizing so the _Field_ column only uses the necessary width.
- Adjusted control sizes for compatibility with macOS 26 Tahoe.
- When a Nero tag needs to be written for MP4, a minimal version is now used without duplicating other global metadata.
- Added a workaround for an issue on certain NAS systems (e.g., ReadyNAS) where file descriptors can become invalid (`EBADF`, error 9). The workaround can be enabled by setting `NetworkFileLockingEnabled -bool no` via `defaults`. ([#69560](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/69560))
### Fixed
- Internal changes to ensure fields for format strings work with macOS 26 Tahoe. ([#69601](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/69601))
- Scripting function `$num(x,y)` did not preserve a negative sign for the first parameter.

I've just released **Mp3tag for Mac v1.9.8** with the following changes:

- Added a workaround for an issue where toolbar symbols did not immediately update their enabled state on macOS 26 Tahoe when the File List selection was changed using the mouse.

I've just released **Mp3tag for Mac v1.9.10** with the following changes:
### Fixed
- MP4 `gnre` atom for `GENRE` used type identifier that was incompatible with Apple Music so that "Unknown Genre" was displayed instead of the actual genre (since v1.9.7). ([#69825](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/69825), [#69850](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/69850))

I've just released **Mp3tag for Mac v1.9.11** with the following changes:
### New
- Added support for Traditional Chinese localization.
### Fixed
- Performance improvements at **Convert → Text - Tag** with large amounts of text. ([#69906](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/69906/15))
- Enabled option to replace invalid NTFS characters also replaced slash character `/` in `%_folderpath` when constructing file names via **Convert → Tag - Filename**.
- Scrolling to the end of a Tag Panel field with content exceeding the visible range wasn't possible via Cmd+Right Arrow after saving tags.
- Premature end of processing Tag Sources when condition for while loops wasn't satisfied.

I've just released **Mp3tag for Mac v1.9.12** with the following changes:

- Added `mp4_creation_time`, `mp4_creation_time_raw` , `mp4_modification_time`, and `mp4_modification_time_raw` information fields to display MP4 `mvhd` creation and modification dates.
- Added scripting function `$dedup(x,y,c)` to remove duplicated strings from `x`, separated by `y`, optionally using case-insensitive comparison if `c` is set to `1`.

- Added support for importing `COMPOSER` from extra artist role `Music-By` for Discogs Tag Sources.
