A "string" is traditionally a sequence of characters, either as a literal constant or as some kind of variable. For example "ABCDE" is a string. Or `%TITLE%` is also a string.  
Without seeing your real data in a [screenshot](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/hints-for-asking-support-requests/56190#use-screenshots-to-exemplify-the-issue-2), it is very hard to have a guess.
