Hello, I have a small problem, when I choose for example 3 songs with my mouse, from top to bottom, when I open my Mp3tag, my songs are not in chronological order M0008,M0006,M0007 (see photo). ..
On the other hand, if I choose my 3 songs with my mouse from bottom to top when I open my Mp3tag, my songs are in chronological order M0006, M00007, M0008...

Is there anything to program in Mp3tag?

By which column do you sort the files?
AFAIK see, it is not the filename.
Click on a column header to use it for sorting.

Thanks for your help, Ohrenkino

I have never programmed anything for the columns...

What is this AFAIK?

AFAIK ~ as far as I know.
But I did it wrong. It should have been "as far as I can"

You do not have to program anything for a column - just click on it.
A little arrow at a column inidcates by which column the data is sorted. And the up and down indicate ascending and descending.

It is the headline of a column. In your screendump they read "filename - Length - Path - Tag - Title"

The column headers are not a setting. These are the titles at the very top of each column. Click on any of these to use that field for sorting.

MotleyG, I'm starting to understand better...

It seems to me that for my title numbers to be chronological, I would have to click on the File name arrow at the top, which I have done since I started using Mp3tag, doesn't it work?

Is it just me who has this problem?

If you do not feel at home with the column header, then try menu View\>Sort by\>Filename (or whatever column you want the files to be sorted).
I see that in your screendump the filename is shown right-aligned.
This is usally an indication that in the column definition the option "numeric" is ticked which treats the data in that column as numbers. If there are no numbers, then all entries are considered to be the same number and the order appears to be random.
Please show us a screenshot of the column definition of the column by which you want to sort.

Thank you Ohrenkino for the advice, can I ask you to do a test, if you want, click on 5 audio files, take your mouse, choose the songs from top to bottom and open your Mp3tag

Afterwards, choose 5 songs from bottom to top with your mouse, see if you get the same result...

Thank you and see you soon

Why would you click on the "Filename" column header if you want to sort by TRACK numbers?
If you want to sort your songs by TITLE names, click on the "Title" column header.
If you want to sort your songs by TRACK numbers, click on the "Track" column header.

There is no such thing as "title numbers". If you have a filename like this:
`01 - Michael Jackson - Billie Jean - Thriller.mp3`
it would be made up of
TRACK - ARTIST - TITLE - ALBUM

For your title question "_My 3 audio files are not in chronological order?_":
If you want to sort your audio files in chronological order, you would have to sort it by a DATE. There are different [DATE](https://docs.mp3tag.de/mapping/#date) or [RELEASETIME](https://docs.mp3tag.de/mapping/#releasetime) or [YEAR](https://docs.mp3tag.de/mapping/#year) tags for example.

The order you select your songs in the Windows File Manager is not important.
Mp3tag sorts them according to your select Mp3tag column header.

Hello Lyrics Lover, it's my turn to go to sleep soon, I just saw your message appear...

It's beautiful when I have an album by the same singer...

Example I have 10 song in my Windows folder, which is click with the name, it's ok

My problem, my Mp3tag, doesn't give me the same list in order as my Windows...

I work with the name of the file in my Windows folder (in radio it's like that)

If I click file name in Mp3tag, it doesn't work

It's weird, it works if I take my songs from bottom to top with my mouse??? It is not normal ???

The Windows File Explorer also sorts your content (by the way exactly the same as in Mp3tag: You click on a column header).

By which column do you sort in Windows File Manager? By "Name" (=Filename)?

And then:

> [@ohrenkino](#):
>
> I see that in your screendump the filename is shown right-aligned.
> This is usally an indication that in the column definition the option "numeric" is ticked which treats the data in that column as numbers. If there are no numbers, then all entries are considered to be the same number and the order appears to be random.
> Please show us a screenshot of the column definition of the column by which you want to sort.

Right click on the column header "Filename" in Mp3tag -\> Customize Columns and then create a screenshot from your definitions for Name, Value, Field, Sort by and the checkbox for Numeric.

But I'm doing tests at the moment, click on File name... And does it work in reverse?
