Firstly Happy New Year everyone.

I am trying to sort out a mass of music tracks and thanks to past help its going well.

However I have hit a problem.

Some of my older albums are labeled (disc 1) or Vol. 1. after the album title.

I have tried renumbering parts of box sets by hand but that takes too long to do.

What I would like to be able to do is have an action that reads the (disc 1) or Vol. 1. etc either in the Album Field or more often only in the file name. I would like whatever number is there moved into the Track Field.

Once there I can use the previous advice I have been given to move the album plus CD number to its new location.

Thanks in advance.

It would be more helpful if you could provide screenshots with concrete examples.

From your described samples, these are two very different Album name sequences. Plus you are looking at filenames and Album tags. You might want to use a filter for each and handle them separately as necessary to get your expected results.

This seems like unnecessary extra work as well. You could simply copy this number directly to the %discnumber% field and be done with it.

Maybe try the Action "Guess Values" here. For something like your example `album (disc 1)` use the source as %album% and the guessing pattern `%dummy% (disc %discnumber%)` should work. You can use a similar pattern like `%dummy% Vol. %discnumber%` for the other example.

Make backups and work with a small group of files to ensure you are getting the expected results before making widespread changes.

I would like to draw your attention to the track numbering wizard Ctrl-K and its functions to also fill the field DISCNUMBER.
and once you have structured data in fields, it should be easy to re-use it.

Last I put screenshots on I was told off as the people helping me needed to type in the data to resolve my issue.

However I have included examples. In all cases the disc number is not in the tags.

Not quite sure how to use this. I use this for numbering tracks and albums when I know the order but I don't understand how I would use it to determine the disk number from the information in the file name etc.

Sorry its me just being thick!

To get the Vol. number from the folder name in "Die grossen Meister der klassischen Musik Vol. 7" try Convert\>Filename-Tag
Format string: `%dummy% Vol. %discnumber%\%dummy%`

For the `[3 CD Box Set]` is see nor really a chance to determine the discnumber from the filename.

for the "uplifting discs" it would be a similar approach as above with Convert\>Filename-Tag
Format string: `%dummy% Uplifiting Disc %discnumber%\%dummy%`
