I've noticed that the first thing I do every time I start the program is pressing Ctrl-D to choose target directory.
So the idea is to implement an option that will show directory chooser automatically when the program starts right _before_ initial files scan.
This will save time that initial scan (actually useless since I will change the directory) takes. Besides will save extra Ctrl-D pressing. 🙂

In the options \> general, you could set the default directory to an empty one, and tick the box "start from this directory" to save some time.

I think this work-around is a good idea, but I think the suggestion has good merit. What I find myself wishing is that there were a way to choose if mp3tag reads subdirectories upon opening for similar reasons.
