# Processing large number of track files

I have a large number \>10000 tracks to process. They are in a directory structure of music\>artist\>album\>track(s).  
However they are being read is very slow -- minutes. Is it possible that they are more efficient/faster interfaces that could be used?

Something to consider in addition to the internal/external SSD/HHD and antivirus-tools used:

How big are your files?  
Loading 200'000 small 128 kbit/s mp3 files takes much less time than 200'000 huge WAV files.
