I really like the new discogs function in the 2.83 release, both the standard and the by-ID function.

I've added/updated a bunch of discogs entries lately as I work my way through my 3500 vinyl album collection, digitising each complete album. Mp3tag is a huge part of that.

One function that would be a huge help in the discogs by ID function, is optional stripping out any non-numeric characters.

On the top right of every discogs release page is the release code, in the format [r219536] using a web browser you can click to select and copy and then paste into the ID field in MP3tag. However, unless you manually remove [r] discogs fails.

Since every entry is the same format, can MP3TAG just remove those characters if present? It save a few keystrokes....

Just for reference, this is available since Mp3tag v2.85

In release 2.98 this function is lost/removed?

If I try discogs by releaseid using [r2012688] I get a 404 not found. If I use 2012688 it works, as does the new function search by artist/album.

Was this a deliberate change or an oversight?

It was an oversight.

I've implemented the new multi-value search dialog and forgot to add the magic 🧙 🙂 Thanks for pointing, I'll bring it back with the next development build.

Thanks. I've now tagged the MP3's of just under 2,000 albums... I try to record 4-per day, so every day this saves me 36 key strokes, I've been almost 1-year 3-months since this feature was added, which means its saved me something like 16,000 keystrokes...

But if MP3TAG didn't exist, it would have billions of keystores.... 🙂

Hello @Florian

Sorry to re-open this old topic, but the issue seems to have returned.

I'm using v3.03 and I get the "404" error when using the [r] and I believe this also was happening with v3.02

Thanks!
