# Removing characters with wildcards

I would like to remove everything in parentheses in my filenames and tags, mainly to get rid of featured artists on a track. I would also like to get everything after and including "feat." in my titles to be removed as well. I tried to use the replace function with the parentheses like (\*?) and remove them that way, but I could not get it to work. Thanks!

Try using _(.\*)_ instead

Awesome! How would I do the "feat" part? And could you explain to me (or point me to a page) what the backslashes are used for?

_feat. .\*_

The backslash is used as eschape character, so ( tells the parser to handle the bracket as character and not as beginning of a group. Also, . tells the parser to handle the dot as character and not as symbol for all characters.
