# Removing of a certain number of ending chars

Hi,
I know that the action below removes leading chars but what is the action for removing chars at the end of a filename, tag etc
**"Create a new action in an existing action group and choose Replace with regular expression as action type.
In Field, choose where you want to remove the chars.
In Regular expression enter ^.{3} if you want to remove 3 chars.
Replace matches with stays empty.
So you can enter the number of chars to be removed between the two curly brackets."**

To detect e. g. 3 chars at end of the string, you should code something like this:
**.{3}$**
but I am not sure if the $ anchor works in Mp3tag's $regexp function or in the regexp action.
