# Replacing Artist field with specific section of title

I would like to search the start of the title string for the artist name, in my filenames, the artist name is first, separated from the song name by a "-". so for example johhny bob - here comes the rain

Are we talking about the FILENAME or the embedded metadata field TITLE?  
Which data is the source: the FILENAME? Then use the function Convert\>Filename-Tag  
Mask: %artist% - %title%

If the source is the field TITLE, then use an action of the type "Guess value"  
Source: %title%  
Target: %artist% - %title%
