# select many files and create a album /artist tag from the directory name

I am trying to put %directory% in the artist and album fields and click save tag? No matter the format it takes %directory% and puts it in the tag. Tried all versions of quotes. Read all the examples I could find???????? I must be real slow????

Managed to use actions never made the same work with panel and filename tag???
this worked
you can use the action 'Format Value':
Field: ARTIST
Format string: %\_directory%
