Hello,

Since my iTunes cannot sort of filepath, I was thinking I could just copy the whole filepath string and set it as my Genre tag, and then sort by Genre in my iPod.

In other words, if I have three mp3's with full filepath that look like this:
C:\Music\foo\A.mp3
C:\Music\foo\bar\B.mp3
C:\Music\foo\bar\baz\C.mp3

then the Genre tags for those mp3's would look like, respectively,
C:\Music\foo
C:\Music\foo\bar
C:\Music\foo\bar\baz

The final effect would be that in my iTunes when I sort by Genre, I will essentially have a flattened view of my directory structure.

I've looked at the documentation and also FAQ at [/t/8016/1](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/8016/1) and it does not do what I want to do. The reason is because in my file structure, I have a variable number of subdirectories between my C:\Music root and the actual filename.mp3; using something like %genre%\%genre%\%dummy% doesn't work for me, since any given mp3 could be nestled 2-5 parent directories between it and the C:\Music root. I don't care about parsing/extracting any of the subdirectory names between my root and filename.mp3, I just want to get the whole path and use it as my Genre.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
