# Some help with File Renaming Action please!

Hey guys,
Been a while since i posted here! 🙂
MP3Tag has helped me move on to a higher level though!
(My entire music collection is now neatly organised).
I still came across a specific issue i would like to solve though.
I am a DJ as well and have been starting to use more and more MP3's as of late.
The downside is, some of these come in a VBR format which i do not want.
After some messing around with Foobar2000 i got it configured so i can filter out VBR files and recode them using lame.exe very easily.
Because replacing the file simultaneously wil not work however, the converted files are saved as %Filename%\_RECODE.
Now i would like to use MP3Tag to set up an action, that allows me to get rid of the \_RECODE text after i delete the older files.
I am looking at the action with the Replace Function now, but can not get it to work.
Right now it looks like this:
$replace(%FILENAME%,%FILENAME%\_RECODE,%FILENAME%)
I am probably doing something wrong with the syntax here, so i was really hoping someone here could help me out!

$replace(%\_filename%,\_RECODE,)

You forgot to mention what action type you are using.
What newser suggested works with
_Action type:_ **Format value**
_Field:_ **\_FILENAME**
_Format string:_ **$replace(%\_filename%,\_RECODE,)**

I was indeed using the Format Value action.
Though, i had the %filename% field selected. 🙂
