# Suggestion: format string tester

Please add a command to bring up a dialog box for testing a format string, like this:

having

- a title bar Close box, having keyboard shortcut ESCAPE

- a wrapping multi-line input text control labelled "Format string" accepting (and persisting) a format string. CTRL+A, CTRL+X, CTRL+C, CTRL+V and CTRL+Z operate.

- a "\>" button to insert an element at caret, as found on existing Format String dialog boxes, having keyboard shortcut CTRL+I

- an auto-updated multi-line output text control labelled "Formatted track data" showing the output of the format string evaluation for each selected tracklist file, each preceded by a bold line "Track of "

- A resize grip. Size persists over close.

By "format string" I mean the script format which (as far as I can tell) includes only:

- all scripting functions here:

except "Global placeholders"
