# Tagging Using folder and subfolders only

"Filename - Tag" also supports directories:  
[/t/8016/1](https://community.mp3tag.de/t/8016/1)

If you want to use an action use "Format value" and the placeholders %\_directory% and %\_parent\_directory%

I.e.  
_Action type:_ **Format value**  
_Field:_ **ARTIST**  
_Format string:_ **%\_parent\_directory%**
