# Using Name of Subdirectory as Artist's Name

I have an extensive collection of classical CDs ripped to my hard drive according to this schema:

X:\Music\Composer\Composition, Conductor [(soloist, instrument)], Orchestra.flac

To keep things simple, I use Composition and everything to its right as the title. This part was simple, but I can't figure out how to make Artist take on the name of the containing subdirectory (Composer, in other words). For example, "X:\Music\Beethoven\Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, Herbert von Karajan, Berlin Philharmonic.flac" should be

Title = "Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, Herbert von Karajan, Berlin Philharmonic" (works OK)  
Artist = "Beethoven" (baffles me)

If someone could lend a helping hand I would be sincerely grateful.

Hello,

you can use the action 'Format Value':  
Field: ARTIST  
Format string: %\_directory%
