# v2.37b - installer run failure

Installer '[X] Run Mp3tag v2.37b' fails if another version of mp3tag is running.

The installer asks you to close the running version of Mp3tag (at least in current versions).

That will certainly solve this problem. Thanks.

But may I ask why it asks? Because if install mp3tag into a different directory and different Start menu folder as an existing copy, surely the two should be independent.

I could imagine that there might be a conflict with registry entries and the location where settings are stored (%APPDATA% so each user on a PC has his own settings - this also allows Mp3tag to run without admin rights).

Asking you to close the running version is not going to help with such conflicts, surely.
