# Various artist album issues

one thing that has been bothering me is the way that various artist albums are sometimes tagged. Now i know mp3tag isnt to blame because this is how the info is uploaded to [freedb.org](http://freedb.org).
my issue is where the artist part of the tag says "various artist" and the actual artist name and track title shows under the "title" column.
so rather than having:
**Track:** Mariah Carey: Its Like That
**Artist:** Various Artists
it would be:
**Track:** Its Like That
**Artist:** Mariah Carey
Is there an action or something that can be done to separate these two and actually put the artist in the artist field and the title in the title field? Usually there is a separation of / or : so those could be used to define the split - eg Artist title is to the left or right of / ...
...just wanted to know if anyone else has had problems with this and found a way out?

There's a _Compilation_-button in the freedb window where you can take care of this problem when importing:

To correct it afterwards, you can use a Guess values action.
_Source format:_ **%title%**
_Guessing pattern:_ **%artist%: %title%**
