# \[X\] Cannot add BMP image as cover

Cannot add BMP image as cover. Please fix it. Thanks

You can use _(Quick )Action \> Import cover from file_ to save bmp in the tag.

But why you want to save BMP as covers is beyond me.

Example 800x800 BMP = 1.9 Mb  
800x800 JPG = 34 Kb

edit: a free and good image converter is Irfanview:

The ID3 standard recommends png and jpg for best compatibility. That is why you cannot add BMP files as covers with MP3tag.
