I gave tried to find batch processes to add info on existing albums with no success...
I have only used "Artist" and not "Albumartist". Mainly because I did not see/understand the differences when I started to build my database in JRiver about 10 years ago. Now I want to make some changes on this. I have roughly 5,000 albums in my database so I would be helped with some batch handling. I make an example to explain.
In my database I have 43 Miles Davis albums, "Artist" = Miles Davis. Now I want to add the column "Albumartist" = Miles Davis in one batch run.
Here is a post from the FAQs how to copy the value of one field to another with the example of ARTIST and ALBUMARTIST.
Or with a longer answer:
MP3Tag provides a way to batch copy data from the ARTIST field to the ALBUMARTIST field. You can accomplish this using the "Actions" feature. Here's how to do it:
Open MP3Tag: Launch MP3Tag on your computer.
Select Files: Navigate to the folder where your music files are located. Select all the files for which you want to copy the ARTIST data to the ALBUMARTIST field.
Create an Action Group: Go to the "Actions" menu and select "Action Groups." Then, click on "New" to create a new action group. Give your action group a name, such as "Copy Artist to Albumartist."
Create an Action within the Group: With your new action group selected, click on "New" to create a new action within the group. Choose "Format Value" as the action type.
Configure the Action: In the "Field" dropdown, select "ALBUMARTIST." In the "Format string" box, enter "%artist%". This tells MP3Tag to copy the data from the ARTIST field to the ALBUMARTIST field.
Save the Action Group: Click "OK" to save the action. Then, click "OK" again to save the action group.
Apply the Action: With your files still selected, go to the "Actions" menu, select your newly created action group ("Copy Artist to Albumartist"), and click "OK" to apply the action.
Verify Changes: Check a few of your files to confirm that the data from the ARTIST field has been copied to the ALBUMARTIST field.
By following these steps, you should be able to batch copy data from the ARTIST field to the ALBUMARTIST field in your MP3 files using MP3Tag. Remember to always backup your files before making bulk changes, just in case anything goes wrong.
