Addition or suppression of part of text in a field - Ajout ou suppression d’une partie de texte dans un champ

Hello everyone,
It’s not going to be simple, hardly speaking and understanding English, but thank you the AI that helps me convert...
There, I expose my concern:
I would like to be able in a complete collection of albums, to add text without removing existing ones
In the same way,, I would like to delete just a part of the text, without completely deleting the existing one.
I think the solution exists, but even searching in Mp3Tag help, I did not find.

For example:

Album: Ac/dc Jailbreak (Live) Title: The Jack (Live)
Album: Ac/dc Jailbreak (Live) Title: Can I Sit Next To You Girl (Live)
Album: Ac/dc Jailbreak (Live) Title: High Voltage
Album: AC/DC July 1977 (Live) Title: Live Wire (Live)
Album: AC/DC July 1977 (Live) Title: She’s Got Balls
Album: AC/DC July 1977 (Live) Title: Problem Child (Live)
Album: AC/DC Kicked In The Teeth (Live) Title: Live Wire
Album: AC/DC Kicked In The Teeth (Live) Title: Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be (Live)
Album: AC/DC Kicked In The Teeth (Live) Title: Up To My Neck In You (Live)

For this selection, the imperative being to keep the existing text, except for the modifications:

I should be able to add "\" to all the albums.
I would need to be able to remove "Ac/dc" from the albums concerned.
I would need to be able to add "AC/DC"on all the albums concerned.
I would need to be able to remove a "\" on the albums concerned.

What would lead to this result:

Album : AC/DC Jailbreak (Live) Titre : The Jack (Live)
Album : AC/DC Jailbreak (Live) Titre : Can I Sit Next To You Girl (Live)
Album : AC/DC Jailbreak (Live) Titre : High Voltage (Live)
Album : AC/DC Juillet 1977 (Live) Titre : Live Wire (Live)
Album : AC/DC juillet 1977 (Live) Titre : She’s Got Balls (Live)
Album : AC/DC Juillet 1977 (Live) Titre : Problem Child (Live)
Album : AC/DC Kicked In The Teeth (Live) Titre : Live Wire (Live)**
Album : AC/DC Kicked In The Teeth (Live) Titre : Hell Aint A Bad Place To Be (Live)**
Album : AC/DC Kicked In The Teeth (Live) Titre : Up To My Neck In You (Live)**

I have been using MP3Tag for years, and so far, I was doing quite well, but over the years, my discothèque being more and more provided, and voluminous, I admit that it would be a good thing if I could sometimes proceed in this way, avoiding working album by album, ce que je fais en général.

If someone has a solution to offer me, I thank them greatly in advance.

Album: AC/DC Kicked In The Teeth (Live) Title: Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be (Live)
Album: AC/DC Kicked In The Teeth (Live) Title: Up To My Neck In You (Live)

Try an action (quick) of the type "Replace" for ALBUM
Search: Ac/dc
Replace with: AC/DC

Use the same type of action to replace \

Ok thank you very much, ohrenkino, it has made good progress for me, and works very well to perform a replacement.
On the other hand, to delete a piece of text, it does not work.

I tested:
AC/DC - (original)
AC/DC (modification)

And like that, the text does not change: the "-" remains in the field.
Another possibility?

I just tested:

- (original)
(modification)

It works the - is- well deleted. : )

It remains to be seen how this can work when there are several - in the field.

In French:
Je viens de tester:
- (original)
(modification)

It still seems to me that the 'replace' option in quick action remains limited in possibilities.

For example, I would like to place a (Flac) or a (320Kbit) depending on the bitrate, I cannot do it with this option.
There, it would really be necessary to be able to "add" text for it to work.

With a base of this type:

Album: AC/DC '74 Jailbreak (1984)
Album: AC/DC Live in Maryland 1979 (Live)
Album: AC/DC Live In London Part One (Live)

I did try the formatting option, but if I do:
%Artist% %Album% - %year% (Flac)
This is translated as:
Album: AC/DC ACDC - date according to the album (>it's ok) (Flac)
The album name changes into the artist name, I don’t know why.

Maybe the backslashes are involved... I really don’t know.
To know that for my reading software (Wacup), the double ** ** is read as a comma (,)

If again, can someone help me...
Thank you in advance

Album: AC/DC\\ '74 Jailbreak (1984)
Album: AC/DC\\ Live in Maryland 1979 (Live)
Album: AC/DC\\ Live In London Part One (Live)
%Artiste% \ %Album% - %year% (Flac)
Cela est traduit par :
Album: AC/DC\\ ACDC - date selon l'album (Flac)
Merci d'avance

What should the result look like?
For better ideas, a screenshot of the extended tags dialogue (Alt-T) from a single file would help: that shows the fields in the file plus their contents.

I didn’t see how to pass screenshots, in the text editor. I will still have a closer look, just in case.
In the meantime, in bold, I copy the content of the fields to MP3Tag, in thin match the name of the field in MP3Tag

To answer your question, ohrenkino
Album: AC/DC '74 Jailbreak (1984)
should be transcribed by:
Album: AC/DC '74 Jailbreak - 1984 (flac)
I deliberately omit the number of tracks in the album.

On the other hand, I was mistaken about the formatting option. No one needs to put '%artist% in the formula, since the artist is already contained in the album name.

In fact, from:
Album: Alice Cooper - Flush the Fashion
Album: Alice Cooper - Easy Action
Album: Alice Cooper - Dragontown

I just need to apply the following formatting:
%Album% - %year% - (flac) - Tracks

To easily get:
Album: Alice Cooper - Flush the Fashion - 1980 (flac) - Tracks
Album: Alice Cooper - Easy Action - 1970 (flac) - Tracks
Album: Alice Cooper - Dragontown - 2001 (flac) - Tracks

  • Flac is modifiable according to what I need (125/192/320 Kbit/s or variable depending on the MP3) and
  • The number of titles will have to be manually entered album by album, the option in the "total_files" information fields menu giving the total number of songs selected in MP3Tag, whereas I would like the total album by album.

Like that, it’s already good. I would still test in the same menu, the 'total' option, to gain awareness.
For the moment, it’s already not bad, I’m making great progress on improving my use of MP3Tag, and you’re the one who put me on the right track, ohrenkino. I thank you greatly again.

Album: Alice Cooper - Flush the Fashion
Album: Alice Cooper - Easy Action
Album: Alice Cooper - Dragontown
il me suffit d'appliquer le formatage suivant :
%Album% - %year% - (flac) - Titres
Pour facilement obtenir:
Album: Alice Cooper - Flush the Fashion - 1980 (flac) - Titres
Album: Alice Cooper - Easy Action - 1970 (flac) - Titres
Album: Alice Cooper - Dragontown - 2001 (flac) - Titres

Are we talking about the filename or really the contents of the field ALBUM?
If it is the ALBUM - why do you include data that is stored much better in dedicated and separate fields, e.g. the YEAR and ARTIST should stay in the fields and not be transferred redundantly to a single field.

And should really the position of the brackets be different?

where the brackets move from (1984) to (flac)

Yes, it is indeed the data from the "album" field.
Simply for this reason, to have all my info in visual on Wacup:

All I have to do is hover my cursor over the cover text so that everything appears in a pop-up.

However, it is possible that there are other ways to do with Wacup, but to handle, it is much more complex than MP3Tag.

Yes, it works very well, with the mentioned formula
The parentheses are well displaced, and the dashes are well transcribed, with the spaces requested.

NB:
Ah, I tested 'total' but it doesn’t match what I could possibly hope for.
The field:
Album: Alice Cooper - Flush the Fashion
becomes, with the formula:
%Album% - %year% - (flac) - %total% Titres
Album: Alice Cooper - Flush the Fashion - 1980 (flac)

With this formula:
%Album% - %year% - (flac) - %total_files% Titres
we obtain:
Album: Alice Cooper - Flush the Fashion - 1980 (flac) xxxx Titres
The value "xxxx" corresponding to the number of files selected in MP3Tag, not to the number of files in the album.

If you have data in TRACK in the format 5/16 then you could use the last part of the track number to document the total number of tracks in an album
$regexp(%track%,\d+.(\d+),$1)
would extract the number following the /

  • How could I integrate this with the rest of the formula (%Album% - %year% - (flac) ) ?
  • What is the 5/16 format? Can I see it on the MP3Tag interface?

Thank you for the screenshot.
The column "Piste" shows the field TRACK in the requested format, e.g. for "01 - Now" it shows 1/15.
But what I also see: the column "Album" looks like "Def Leppard\\X - 2008..." and the \\ indicates that you have 2 fields of the type ALBUM - and this could also lead to problems with your player.
Please show a screenshot of the extended tags dialogue Alt-T of a single file. for further investigation.

No, on the side of the MP3Tag fields, there is no problem, I think you are referring to the field for the file path represented by the right arrow on the new screen. There is indeed only one field for the album name, represented by the left arrow. The corresponding column has been highlighted as translucent yellow/green.

To acquire awareness, I still respond to your request by sending a metadata screen.

So, I would be interested in using what you previously proposed:
$regexp(%track%, d+.( d+),$1)
On the other hand, I don’t know at all how to use it, and if it is possible for me to integrate it into the formula:
%Album% - %year% - (flac) - Titles
that go well for bulk modifications. Afterwards, I can work in two stages, one for my formula, the other to use your proposal, but I would need an explanation to use it, because right now, I’m fishing

And again, thank you very much for your help, and the interest you have in this topic, ohrenkino

No. If you look at the screenshot from the extended tags dialogue, you see that the top 2 rows of fields are labelled "Album - and several fields of the same type are supported by only very few players so it is a good idea to check what the player makes of the multi-value fields.

As far as I understood, you set "Titles" manually in

Instead try Convert>Tag-Tag for ALBUM:
Format string: %Album% - %year% - (flac) - $regexp(%track%,\d+.(\d+),$1)
to see in the preview whether you get the total number of tracks for an album.

Just a footnote:
I would save the original album name in a user-defined field, e.g. ORIGALBUM so that you can restore it once you switch to a decent player that knows how to cope with various metadata fields.
Right now it is very difficult to split the amorphous string in ALBUM as the hyphen is no unique separator to set apart the various bits of information.
Together with the strange number of the ALBUM fields it looks to me like a cul-de-sac solution.

Ah yes, it is true, there are two 'albums'...
I think this is due to my first modifications
in Tag / Tag conversion.
I take the 'artist' field first to put it at the head of the 'album' field, which seems to match, since the first line corresponds to the artist, and the second to the original name of the album.
That doesn’t pose any problem for my reader, having no problem on this side.
Ok, for: %Album% - %year% - (flac) - $regexp(%track%, d+.( d+),$1) , I will test right away.

But heuuuuu... Wacup is very decent  , by the way it does support all types of cahmps, and more, except that I don’t know how to do... As it is still under development, I am waiting for new functions to be fully functional in order to focus more on its design.
But I take note, and create a field to save the original album names, which will indeed simplify the task for me when I want to put things back in their proper place.

Thanks

Most players have problems with more than 1 field of the same type and display only one of the fields. So it could be that (in this case) you see only the part that is equal to the data in artist or the other part that is closer to the real album name.
If that player is still under development it would be nice to get it to display a user-defined number of fields under the picture so that you do not have to merge several pieces of information from structured fields into a single unstructured string in which the information then does not match the original purpose of that field.

BTW: the field COMPOSER also seems to be a multi-value field. I wonder, which of the names are displayed in your player.

On Wacup (based on Winamp 5.666), the metadata is displayed as the jes defined in MP3Tag without any problem, except to update the database of Wacup after modifications of metadata on MP3Tag.
No really, there is nothing to worry about on this side.

I tested:
%Album% - %year% - (flac) - $regexp(%track%, d+.( d+),$1) Tracks

I obtain:
album: Dire Straits - Alchemy - Dire Straits Live Part One - 1984 - (flac) - 06/01 Titles track: 01/06
album: Dire Straits - Alchemy - Dire Straits Live Part One - 1984 - (flac) - 06/02 Titles
track: 02/06
album: Dire Straits - Alchemy - Dire Straits Live Part One - 1984 - (flac) - 06/03 Titles
track : 03/06

Wouldn’t there be a way to remove the number in front of the slash and this one, to have:

album: Dire Straits - Alchemy - Dire Straits Live Part One - 1984 - (flac) - 06 Titles
track: 01/06
album: Dire Straits - Alchemy - Dire Straits Live Part One - 1984 - (flac) - 06Titles
track: 02/06
album: Dire Straits - Alchemy - Dire Straits Live Part One - 1984 - (flac) - 06 Titles
track: 03/06

Afterwards, I wouldn’t want to overdo it, I have already learned a lot in less than 24 hours

I still place below the screens corresponding to:
%Album% - %year% - (flac) - $regexp(%track%, d+.( d+),$1) Tracks

Something went wrong with the forum formatter,
The expression should be:
$regexp(%track%,\d+.(\d+),$1)

Please test the expression first in Convert>Tag-Tag

Well really, hats off...

It’s perfect
I’m happy
And at the risk of repeating myself, thank you again
