Discogs has set the maximum display size to 600x600px, mainly to get around copyright claims

Thank your for your research on the respective image sizes for Discogs and MusicBrainz. I wonder though, why is it that MusicBrainz is not subject to the same copyright claims?

You would need to ask the people at MusicBrainz.
Or why, at Discogs, they think that pictures measuring 600x600 pixels do not violate 'fair use' copyright, whereas pictures measuring 650x650 pixels do.
