Hi All. Hopefully I can get some help with this. I purchased a new smart kitchen radio with internet, wifi, fm, cd player, spotify etc. in one unit. It also comes with a digital display. When I load a usb into the back of the unit all my files show but when I play a track with embeded artwork it is not showing on the display. The music plays fine but all I see is the usb symbol and not the artwork.
Does anybody know the correct picture size, format i need to enable this to work? The same USB shows artwork in my car.
Nope.
As you do not say which device it is.
And even if you did: does the manual say anything about sizes and formats?
And if all these sources run dry, then all you can do is trial&error.
Get a test file and reduce the picture size in suitable steps - there is an action for that:
adjust cover
Thanks. Checked the manual and it does not say anything about size or format. The Device is Kenwood CRST700SCD.
The question is whether this device shows embedded artwork at all as the display is rather tiny, I would think.
But this would be a question for the device's support.
And once you have found out and you know which requirements have to be met in the tags, I ym pretty sure that MP3tag can do something for you.
But so far ... it would be up to you to investigate.
What you could investigate with MP3tag: are the pictures embedded or do they reside in a folder?
Use the filter
%_covers% MISSING
to see files with no embedded pictures.
Playing from USB on desktop players, I've often had better success with folder art than embedded art. You could try it if your embedded art doesn't work.
If your audio files are organised in folders by album, put a folder.jpg, Folder.jpg or cover.jpg in the folder. Personally I prefer cover.jpg if the player supports it, since file explorers (in Windows) often use folder.jpg to create folder icons.
I downloaded the manual. It never mentions anything about cover art, album art, or displaying anything on the screen. WAG is it doesn't support artwork.
But as @Doug_Mackie suggests, you can contact Kenwood for more info.
Thank you. Yes, I await a reply from Kenwood. The fact it displays artwork from radio stations, I would have thought it would display from USB Drive.
This is digital radio (DAB), not fm as mentioned in #1.
Am I right?
In this case radio enthusiasts can figure out the specifications for the artwork size being transmitted. The audio codec for the transport from the radio station to the broadcast antenna should be AAC.
Hi,
It's from all internet radio stations. If this is the case I wonder if it can be done from a usb drive to show art work?
I wonder what "it" could be?
Transform the files to aac?
The outcome of the following would also be interesting:
I would say that this is a good sign in respect to verifying that the pictures are actually embedded.
It means to me: if your player could display pictures then it would simply have to look at the files as they bring the pictures along.
Now it would be up to the answer from Kenwood to tell us whether the player can display pictures for MP3 files and if so, what the requirements would be.
Thanks very much. I appriciate your opinion. I have yet to get a response from Kenwood yet. Hopefully tomorrow.
Hi All,
Just received an email back from Kenwood who say the unit does not support artwork on usb sticks. As the unit supports artwork on Internet radio stations I have asked if there could be a software update to have cover art from usb. The reply was it is possible in a future update. Not sure if this is possible. Thank you all for your advice.
