Hi all!
I haven’t downloaded the software yet because I would like to know if this is possible first. Basically, I’d like to automatically add Track Number metadata to a significantly large (400+) number of WAV files. According to the “Auto Track and Disc Numbering” page on the website, it is possible to auto-number files and reset this numbering based on the file’s directory. Is this also true for WAV files?
My use-case is a little different than typical, but imagine having several albums worth of WAV files that you just want Track Number metadata added to automatically. This, if possible, would save me a TON of time.
Thank you!
Yes, this is so. It may depend on your player whether it reads tags in wav files.
Thanks for you reply!
What about Windows explorer? Will it read the track numbers on WAV files?
The reason I ask is because the files need to be organized by Track Number on Windows, rather than by the name of the file. This is important!
The windows explorer does not read wav tags properly.
(But that is no MP3tag problem)
I’ve successfully added Track Numbers to WAV files and they do show up in Windows Explorer. However, I haven’t been successful in being able to reset the track numbers counter on new folder/directory change. Either there’s a bug with the software or I’m doing something wrong.
For a better idea of what I’m working with, I have groups of files inside subfolders. You can think of them as the ALBUM folder, inside of which I have an MP3 folder and a WAV folder. Inside the WAV folder I have the tracks I need numbered. Now multiply that by 45 ALBUM folders with the same subfolder structure.
I’m dragging all those ALBUM folders into MP3Tag and check both the “Reset track counter on next disc” and “Reset disc counter on change of _DIRECTORY”, but that’s not doing the trick. What am I missing here?
I tried that but unfortunately it didn’t work. Gave me a bunch of files with the same track number (mostly track 1).
you have to sort them so that they are in the right order.
This means that all files from one directory should also form a block in the file list so that if the next block in a different directory comes, the counters could be reset.
I’m not sure I follow what you mean. I do have them sorted by number, and they’re arranged as explained in one of my previous comments. Could you please clarify?
EDIT: Nevermind. I got it! Thank you
