auto rename genre based on folder name

I have all my mp3s arranged by folder on my drive however the tags are wrong. I am trying to find a way to automatically rename all my MP3's genre tag based on the folder name they are in.

So if i have a folder called 70s, I want all MP3 files's genre tag in that folder to be retagged 70s.

can MP3tag do that? thanks.

Yes, this is possible using the converter Filename > Tag using a format string like
%genre%\%dummy%

Hi Florian,

that's great, I didn't know we could use the %dummy% variable. That's a great feature (I probably missed that in the documentation). Does it mean that the info assigned to this variable during the 'extract' operation is discarded?
