Automatically select next file

This is a general question and I'm hoping someone can help me with this...

In "options" I have the automatically select next file box checked yet when I hit ctrl+S to save or click save it doesn't go to the next file. I've tried this in versions 2.39 and 2.44. It also says it does this when editing a file in file view...what is file view? I don't see that anywhere. I'm assuming it's always in file view.

Any help would be awesome. I'm really tired of using ctrl commands to go to the next file when I'm editing 5000-10000 files. It's killing me.

Despite the UI, Save is not needed in file view. Pressing Return saves your edit... and moves to the next file.

It also says it does this when editing a file in file view...what is file view?

It is - "file view" is a misnomer. It is referring to what is actually a file pane.
