Hello friends, first of all thank you @Florian for this program.
Is there a page where the features of the Mp3Tag program are explained?
For example, what does the "Tools -> FLAC Enhance" feature do?

What version of Mp3tag do you use actually?

In my Mp3tag 3.26b I only see Utils -> Optimize FLAC
![]()
v3.26. I misspelled the text, sorry. When I right click on any FLAC file, I go to Tools -> Optimize FLAC.
You can find a hint about this specific function Optimize FLAC here
It was introduced with Mp3tag v3.24 (2024-01-26)
After reading the phrasing of the documentation I'm curious: How would Utils → Optimize FLAC help when the embedded cover is too big? As I understand it, all it does is add an additional 4KB of padding on top of the space used up by embedded art and tags. That should not help if the embedded cover itself is too big.
You are right: optimizing the flac file does not reduce the size of the embedded cover. The original impulse for the function cam from a number of observations that even though the embedded cover was reduced (manually) in size, the size of the flac file stayed the same.
Any surplus padding can now be removed with the optimization.
I'm aware of that (I think I was part of the initial discussion of the feature). It would be nice for users who have no concept of what padding is (and isn't) if the documentation was clearer.
Personally I see 2 uses of the optimization.
